New Year's Resolution (Ace x Reader AU

    It's 2016.
    Wait a sec --you looked at the clock hanging on the wall-- not yet, there's 10 more minutes to go. With a deep sigh, you twisted in your sofa for a more comfortable position and tried to gain more warmth. Heh, you snorted. Just why, of all times, right before new year's about to come, that you had to be alone at home? You stood up, walked over to the windows and stared far into the city. From the height that you were at, everything was presented before your eyes. Through the window you saw that every other family seemed to be having the time of their lives with their lovers, friends, and families. Even though you couldn't hear anything, but from their smiles on their faces you could almost picture the fun that they were having. Couldn't help but letting out another sigh escape your lips, you walked back to the sofa and threw yourself down. Your cousin had texted about an hour ago saying that she will come and pick you up for the celebration of New Year, and now it seems like she won't make it in time. 

    Well, it seems like you were spending the night on your own then. grabbing hold of your phone, with one last look at the time, you typed in : "Happy New Year Guys!" and was ready to be the first to post new year's blessings on Facebook. How pathetic, you thought. having to pretend that I'm having a good time when the real situation is this....and the thing is, a year had already passed, I still don't know how Ace feels about me....Suddenly, a text message appeared out of your phone. "Ready for the new year? (Y/n)"? The message was not a surprise to you but when you saw who it came from, you still couldn't help but smile to yourself. It was from Ace. 
    It didn't  matter when how bad of a mood you were in, whenever you see his name, it's like a ray of sunlight shining through your heart, filling it with warmth. Funny that he could always bring out the most gentle parts of you when he didn't even mean to. 

    Picking up your phone in delight, you replied back Yep! Happy New Year~ and pressed the send button. A few seconds later his text had made you chuckle. 

Haha, it's not 2016 yet! But you're close though! Any last words for 2015 or any wishes for 2016? What did they call it...Aha! A New Year's resolution!

    New Year's resolution? Idiot! I want to know how you feel about me! You mentally screamed and caused a mini trauma right where you were. Normally you would be embarassed, but there's no one there except yourself and a pile of clothes so you didn't worry about it too much. Ignoring some of the other holiday-wish-texts that others had sent, you thought for a bit and typed

Lol yea, I wish I don't have to be sitting alone on the sofa again when the next new year comes.

Oh? You're at home alone? Haha that's sorta sad

    You could almost see him grin with an eyebrow raised through the shining screen. Before you thought of something to answer, he sent another message. 

Um, if it doesn't bother you, do you  mind opening the door to the lobby for me? it's....you know, not that warm outside, hehe....

    Wait a second, you hurried to your window and looked down. Surely, there he was, pacing back and forth with his arms close to his body but was holding the phone firmly. He must've felt your presence as he waved and yelled "HEY!!!" cheerfully. "Oh God." You muttered under your breathe. "Is he crazy? How long has he been there?!" Looking around, you grabbed a coat from your dad's closet and dashed down the hall. The trip waiting for the elevator seemed especially long. When you finally reached the main lobby, you saw his face pressed firmly on the glass door, pouting with his nose all red, making him look even more adorable than usual. Nevermind that, he looked like he was turning into an ice cube! You chuckled at the sight and couldn't help but rolled your eyes at him. You let him into the building and tucked the coat on him. 

    "Idiot! What are you doing here when it's almost midnight? Aren't you cold?" You meant to sound irritated but failed to notice how worried your expression had been. However, he did. 
"Are you worried about me~?" His face flashed a second of triumph then it quickly returned back to that adorable smile of his. Blood rushed to your cheeks and you managed to tell him not really. "Then why's your cheeks pink then?" He then snuggled his face against your neck. The warm sensation caused you to stiffen and twich. 

    "Um...A-Ace?" Shoot! Can't even make my words out! "Get up! Aren't you...supposed to be....um...at a party or something.....?" To your surprise, he didn't let go, instead, he wrapped his arms tight around you and buried his face deeper on your shoulder. He looked up at you and you could see that his eyes were shinier than usual. 

    "It's been a year already....I've always wanted to...no, I have to do this before next year comes...seems like we don't have much time, do we?"

    WE?!

    "Wait, there's--" Eyes widened at the strange feeling of his lips overtop yours, you couldn't move. You were too startled to say or even think anything. You didn't even hear the deafening fireworks or the clock on the street ring 12 times symbolizing the coming of a brand new year. After what seemed like forever, he had let go. Leaving you dazzled on the spot. 

    "Ace...? I was trying to tell you that there...there's a security camera here in the lobby...." Your voice drifted away as you made out the words while staring straight at the ground--you couldn't gather enough courage to face him. He chuckled at your cuteness. Once again he pulled you into a big embrace. "Aww it doesn't matter, and by the way, you said you were spending the night alone? Well, seems like not anymore. Aren't you going to invite me up since I'm already here?" Smiling, you gave a slight nod and took his hand while he blabed about you having to change a New Year's resolution or something because you weren't alone this year.
    Looking up at his confident smile, one thing you were sure of. 
    This was the best New Year you've ever had. 
    And, think I do have to change my resolution up a little too.
